This is a list of ten things that I have found on other people’s pack list that I have decided to incorporate in my own. So, that may be a lie because because this list actually all came from one list, but it is a damn good list and most of these things transcend personal travel and can very much be taken for business travel as well. Most of these came from this list, The 2009 Nomad Packing List.
- Marmot Mica Jacket: After all of this time, I still do not have a rain jacket, so I want to make my first one a good (and light) one.
- Icebreaker Beast Briefs: Wool underwear is quick drying, anti-microbial, odor resistant, and it keeps you warm even when it’s wet. I have some good boxers, but I think 2-3 of briefs would be good when I have to wear a base layer. As with any travel underwear, dark colors need only apply.
- Energizer Duo USB Battery Charger: This is really self-explanatory, and I really do not know why I do not have one of these already.
- Vibram Five Fingers Shoes: I still cannot decide between the KSO and the KSO Trek, but I hear awesome things about these shoes and though they take some getting used to, they are a great asset to a pack to replace hiking boots. They go on virtually any terrain and can even go trekking. Most importantly, they take up very little room. The KSO Treks are more durable, but being made of kangaroo leather, they do not sport the water so well.
- APC INPA Universal Plug Adapter: This is a true all-in-one robot in disguise.
I have adapters, but remember, real estate in a pack is very pricey. - Fenix LD10 Flashlight: Essentially, it is the smallest and coolest flight-light out there. Not much larger than the AA battery that powers it, it has 6 modes, four of which are different brightnesses as well as an SOS mode and a strobe mode…”Party in the truck!”
- Merkur Travel Safety Razor: I use a Merkur when I need a close shave (aka when I cannot go electric). This little guy is a lot like mine, except that it unscrews and folds down into a very small pouch. The best thing about these is that the blades are pretty cheap and work great! I have my bigger one here in Australia.
- Icebreaker Glove 320: Wool is awesome for travel. It keeps you warm, it wicks, it is antimicrobial, it really is golden.
- NEOS Villager Overshoes: It gets both cold AND wet out there. The Vibrams cannot handle that on their own.
- Toiletries Pack:
- LOKSAK aLOKSAK: In assorted sizes, you have to keep things dry. If I did not have dry bags during my hikes in the Prom, I would not have a phone, or camera right now. Equally as good, toiletries have to go in bags in case of accidental explosion during travel. No one wants to wear underwear covered in shampoo and toothpaste, or if you do, please keep that to yourself.
- Dovo Solingen Folding Nail Clippers: I have already commented that I needed to get some new grooming equipment. I would not want to offend the Australian travel security again.
- Zwilling J. A. Henckels Nose & Ear Hair Scissors: Not just for noses and ears, scissors are ever-important and with a rounded tip, I do not have to cross respective national TSAa.
- Dr. Bronner’s Magic “All-One” Soap: So fresh and so clean, clean!
- Fuchs Travel Toothbrush: Not matter how you set this little guys down, the bristles never touch a flat surface!
- Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Natural Aluminum Free Deodorant Stick: Why this you ask? Well, being all natural is just plain good. Also, you have see what the aluminum in other deodorants sticks can do to undershirts. I hardly want to ruin my base layers, quick dries, or other gear just because i choose to wear deodorant. This stuff will come out in the wash.
- Flexoline Travel Clothesline : I have to keep that underwear clean. Also, I like this one better than the rope that I use now.
